In 2025, the world will come to the Rhine and Ruhr region to celebrate sport, science and culture. Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Event Presentation Entertainment Act (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
/ full-time / temporary contract from 16.07. to 27.07.2025
 
The position is located within the Event Presentation (EVP) department. As an Entertainment Act, you are part of the action on the field-of-play, performing short, energetic shows to warm-up and entertain the crowd before and between matches. Examples of types of acts could be cheerleaders, dance groups, breakdance crews, brass bands, drumlines, singers, acrobats, roller skaters, jumprope skippers, etc. The exact dates and locations of deployment varies for each sport.
 
We are hiring for the following locations and sports:
  • Bochum: 3x3 Basketball, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball, Athletics
  • Duisburg: Beach Volleyball, Rowing, Water Polo
  • Essen: Archery, Artistic Gymnastics, Basketball, Fencing, Judo, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis
  • Hagen: Basketball
  • Berlin: Volleyball

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Preparing multiple short, rehearsed routines/songs/performances in advance and performing them for spectators on the field of play during Games Time
  • Following the RR2025 music and performance guidelines for the event
  • Providing one main contact person to coordinate your group in advance and on-site
  • Communicating with the EVP Venue Producer to confirm timing and sport-specific entertainment needs
  • Ideally providing entertainment support throughout the session/match, for example cheering/entertaining from the sidelines or during the athlete entrance
  • Creating atmosphere and excitement in the venue, entertaining spectators and encouraging support of the athletes competing

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Live performance experience, ideally at sport events (experience with RR2025 sports is a bonus)
  • Your own choreography, music, costumes, equipment, and/or instruments as needed, in-line with event requirements
  • Limited set-up requirements
  • Willingness and ability to cheer on competing athletes and engage the crowd
  • Strong communication, ideally with working fluency in both English and German
  • Teamwork and flexibility
  • Enjoy the dynamics of live productions and performance
  • Big energy and enthusiasm!

The work is compensated with a project fee based on the period of working days and the experience and skill you bring.
