In 2025, the world will come to the Rhine and Ruhr region to celebrate sport, science and culture. Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Field-of-Play Talent (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 15.07. to 27.07.2025
 
The position is located within the Event Presentation department. As a Field-of-Play Talent (m/f/d), you are the “face” of Event Presentation and are responsible for creating excitement and atmosphere in the venue for student-athletes and spectators. The exact date and location of deployment varies for each sport.
 
We are hiring for the following locations and sports:
  • Bochum: Athletics
  • Duisburg: Rowing, Water Polo
  • Essen: Artistic Gymnastics, Basketball, Judo, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Taekwondo
  • Hagen: Basketball
  • Mülheim: Badminton
  • Berlin: Volleyball

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Provide live moderation segments in the competition venues to engage and entertain spectators as part of the Event Presentation show programme
  • Incorporate a combination of German and English for a multilingual format, as appropriate
  • Take direction from the Venue Producer regarding content, timing and location of moderation segments
  • Work closely with the EVP Floor Manager and Camera Operator to film segments for the public video boards
  • Perform rehearsed pieces, as well as develop segments ad hoc in response to crowd or athlete interactions
  • Follow the EVP script for all processional and protocol elements of competition
  • Research current events and athlete bios to enrich pieces

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Experience working as a Host or Moderator for live events, with a specific focus on sport events
  • Comfortable and experienced in front of the camera
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Fluent in German and English, with professional speaking and performance skills
  • Experience working with intercoms, radios and in-ear devices
  • Quick thinking and highly adaptable 
  • Good understanding of the challenges of live production
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a dynamic environment
  • Experience and knowledge of RR2025 sports is a bonus

The work is compensated with a project fee based on the period of working days, the demands of the sport and the experience and skill you bring.
