Intern in Information Services (m/f/d)
 
In the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
Full-time / 40 hours per week / Voluntary or compulsory internship for 3 months
 
The 2025 World University Games will host a number of client groups during the Games including delegations, FISU Family, officials, athletes and guests. You will be responsible for coordinating a specific Main Information Centre (MIC) location in either Duisburg, Essen, Berlin or other centres. You will work with staff from numerous FAs however they will report directly to the Information Services Manager. The role will be based in the city of the relevant allocated MIC. 

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Coordinate the efficient operations of the appointed MIC
  • Have oversight of the appointed MIC during the Games delivery period
  • Assist in finalising MIC layout, fit out and branding of the MIC
  • Prepare the allocated MIC for the Games operational period
  • Coordinate all relevant information required to be distributed from the appointed MIC
  • Work in conjunction with other FAs to ensure the relevant MIC area is staffed during the MIC operational period
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of volunteers working in the appointed MIC including on site orientation
  • In conjunction with the Volunteers FA, assist in the coordination of shift allocations for volunteers working in their appointed MIC
  • Be familiar with guidelines and procedures relating to information distribution and escalation reporting
  • Liaise with the relevant venue manager in relation to any specific items relating to the MIC, its location or operations
  • Work with other Information Services MIC Liaison staff to effectively manage and align information services across all MIC locations
  • Other tasks as deemed relevant to the level of the position

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Be completing an academic degree in the area of sport/event management, international relations or other relevant field
  • Have experience in a customer service role
  • Have experience in being a volunteer in an event environment
  • Have a good knowledge (or ability to quickly obtain good knowledge) of the cities where MICs are located
  • Have an understanding of how functional areas interact in a multi-sport event environment to achieve common goals
  • Be culturally and globally aware
  • Be motivated to ensure that information services are at a five-star level with a client focus
  • Have a high level of flexibility and be a self-starter
  • Be a person who strives to find a solution to challenges
  • Excellent communication and mediation skills
  • Be fluent in English. Additional language skills would be an asset but are not required for the role
