In 2025, the world will come to the Rhine and Ruhr region to celebrate sport, science and culture. Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Interpreters (m/f/d) for the locations Düsseldorf, Essen & Bochum
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 13.07. to 27.07.2025
 
The position is coordinated internally by our Language Services Manager.

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Representatives from all over the world come together at our major international sporting event. You are the linguistic link and facilitate communication at various events and assignments
  • You always respond to the needs of your audience with your interpreting. You understand who is listening to you and how you need to adapt your performance in order to interpret appropriately for the target audience

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Successfully completed and recognised training / studies in conference interpreting and relevant interpreting experience in at least one of the following language combinations:
    • GER/EN <> FR
    • GER/EN <> ES
    • GER/EN <> RU
    • EN <> GER
  • Experience in working with other freelance interpreters
  • Ability to react to changes in assignments at short notice
  • Ideally previous experience in the fields of sport, media, science or education
  • Ability to invoice us as a freelancer

Your work will be remunerated in two ways:
  • If attendance is required for up to 4 hours, €550 net per day
  • If attendance is required between 4h and 8h, €850 net per day
  • In addition, there are standard market allowances for services such as recording, streaming and overtime
