In 2025, the world will come to the Rhine and Ruhr region to celebrate sport, science and culture. Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Main Press Centre Manager (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
Full-time
 
Duration of the assignments will be agreed upon during the recruitment process, the approximate times are as follows:
  • Main Press Centre Essen: approx. July 10 – July 27, 2025
 
Exact dates may vary based on final schedules and staffing plans.
 
The positions are located within the Media Services department. As part of our media management team, you will help to provide the best possible working conditions for journalists, photographers, and other media representatives attending this global multisport event.

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Lead the Main Press Centre (MPC) operations at the venue at Messe Essen
  • Set up the press conference and interview rooms when applicable
  • Ensure optimal working conditions for international media representatives
  • Support Media Accreditation Manager in managing media accreditation desk
  • Set up and manage information desks
  • Produce a final report summarizing media operations, results, and any lessons learned

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Experience in media operations for large sports events
  • Leadership experience and the ability to manage volunteers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus)
  • Technical understanding of media infrastructure and venue operations
  • Familiarity with media accreditation processes and press conference organization

The work is remunerated with a wage of EUR 350 per event day (arrival and departure days excluded).
