Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Manager Medal Ceremony (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 13.07. to 27.07.2025
 
The position is located within the Event Presentation (EVP) department. As a Medal Ceremony Manager (m/f/d), you are responsible for managing Medal Ceremony processes and the Medal Ceremony team during the event to ensure a smooth awarding of medals and gifts to winning student-athletes. The exact date and location of deployment varies for each sport. 
 
We are hiring for the following locations and sports:
  • Bochum: 3x3 Basketball, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball, Athletics
  • Duisburg: Beach Volleyball, Rowing, Water Polo
  • Essen: Archery, Aartistic Gymnastics, Basketball, Fencing, Judo, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, 
  • Mülheim: Badminton
  • Berlin: Diving, Swimming, Volleyball

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Act as the primary contact for Medal Ceremonies at the venue level
  • Manage and coordinate the Medal Ceremony Volunteers on your team
  • Lead all necessary Medal Ceremony training and rehearsals prior to ceremonies
  • Plan and oversee all back of house preparation for Medal Ceremonies, including resource supply (medals, gifts, trays, etc.), scheduled presenters, protocol adherence, volunteer shifts, etc.
  • Execute Medal Ceremonies, working closely with the Venue Producer to follow their cues 
  • Work closely with the Medal Ceremony Cluster Manager and various Functional Area managers to resolve issues that arise and ensure requirements are met

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Experience working as a Medal or Award Ceremony Manager, with a specific focus on sport events and protocol
  • Strong leadership and the ability to manage and work well with a team, ideally with experience managing volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with intercoms and radios
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a dynamic environment
  • Good understanding of the challenges of live production
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Working proficiency of English required, ideally German as well
  • Experience and knowledge of RR2025 sports is a bonus
