In 2025, the world will come to the Rhine and Ruhr region to celebrate sport, science and culture. Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Physiotherapist (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 13 to 25 July 2025
 
The position is located within the Medical Services department. As a physiotherapist you play an important role for the heath and performance of the athletes.  

We are hiring for the following locations and sports:
  • Berlin: Diving, Swimming, Volleyball 
  • Essen: Tennis, Archery, Basketball, Judo, Fencing, Taekwondo, Tabletennis, Artistic and Rhymthmic Gymnastics 
  • Duisburg: Rowing, Beachvolleyball, Waterpolo
  • Bochum: Athletics, 3x3 Basketball, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball 
  • Mülheim: Badminton
The exact dates vary depending on the location and sport. 

Following tasks are your main focus:

  • Treatments to prevent injuries, in particular through targeted taping to support and stabilize joints and muscles
  • Immediate initial treatment of acute injuries such as sprains, strains or bruises that occur during competitions
  • Carrying out therapeutic measures to relieve pain and promote recovery after injuries.
  • Supporting the athlete's regeneration through targeted massages, cold and heat applications and other manual techniques to relax the muscles
  • Close co-operation and coordination with emergency services and medical specialists in the event of emergencies and special medical requirements

You bring the following skills & knowledge with you:

  • Completed degree as a physiotherapist
  • Experience in treating sports injuries and working with athletes 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • High level of flexibility and an engaging manner
  • Basic knowledge of English
To cover any claims for damages, it is also necessary to have your own professional liability insurance.

The work is remunerated with a net hourly wage of EUR 20. Any travelling expenses incurred during the assignment will be reimbursed in accordance with the provisions of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Travel Expenses Act.
