Senior Manager Transportation (m/f/d)
 
In the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
Full-time / 40 hours per week / temporary contract until late summer 2025.
 
The position is located in the Operations department. As Senior Manager Transport, you will be responsible for ensuring that the transport of all participants, athletes and other stakeholders runs smoothly before and during the event. You will also be responsible for communication with political stakeholders and be the face of transport and mobility for RR25.

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Responsibility for the ‘Overall transport concept’ topic area in coordination with the ‘Head of Games Operations’ 
  • Head of Transport
  • Responsible for the content development & implementation of the concept for a transport, airport arrival/departure and parking strategy
  • Responsible for the further development & implementation of a transport plan to transport the various participants such as athletes, officials and other stakeholders from several hotel clusters & cities to competition and special events
  • Responsibility for contract management with transport and fleet providers and public transport operators 
  • The face to the institutions such as: rail and roads as well as airports
  • Managing relationships with transport and fleet providers, public transport authorities and airport authorities.  
  • Working with police, regulatory and road traffic authorities to ensure smooth operations while minimising the impact on local residents
  • Liaise with government authorities to ensure that all permits are obtained in a timely manner
  • Contact person within the organisation for the topic of transportation
  • Participation in the coordination of the activities required to organise the event and targeted preparation of information for a wide range of stakeholder groups
  • Budget responsibility for the RR25 transport sub-project
  • Development of contingency plans for arrival/departure and for bus and fleet options in the event of delays or cancellations
  • Hiring, structuring and leading the teams that manage and operate Transport & Arrivals/Departures

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Completed university degree in disciplines such as event management, business administration, transport, logistics, traffic management or comparable degree  
  • Relevant professional experience in the planning and successful realisation of an event of a similar size
  • Knowledge of dealing with political institutions
  • Knowledge or experience in the areas of fleet and bus management, public transport and/or car park management
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent German language skills
  • Communication skills (also in English)
  • Routine in information dissemination and organisation
  • Well-structured, conceptual and networked thinking
  • Strong hands-on mentality
  • Systematic and solution-orientated way of working
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the participants
  • Persuasiveness, assertiveness & organisational skills
  • High degree of flexibility and an engaging demeanour
