In 2025, the world will come to the Rhine and Ruhr region to celebrate sport, science and culture. Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Showcaller / Sequence Director (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 01.05. to 20.07.2025
 
The position is located in the Opening Ceremony department. As a showcaller (m/f/d), you will be responsible for directing the opening ceremony and ensuring the smooth, professional and emotional realisation of the scenic and technical processes. 

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Responsibility for the show direction/coordination of the opening ceremony on 16 July 2025
  • Creation and maintenance of cuesheets, stage plans and rehearsal schedules
  • Coordination with technical and artistic directors, content production, artists, stage management and trades
  • Participating in technical planning meetings and leading director's meetings and rehearsals
  • Interface with the show crew, stage crew and production team
  • Operational management of the scenic and technical process during rehearsals and the show

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Proven experience in stage direction or show calling at major events (ideally sporting or cultural events)
  • Sound knowledge of scenic and technical processes (lighting, sound, video, stage)
  • Experience in creating and realising cuesheets and rehearsal plans
  • High level of communication skills, resilience and precision
  • Willingness to work closely on site from 11-16 July 2025 in Duisburg
  • Availability for preparatory coordination from June 2025
