Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Sport Announcer (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 13 to 27 July 2025
 
The position is located within the Event Presentation department. As an Sport Announcer (m/f/d), you are the “voice of the stadium” and provide bilingual (DE/EN) announcements for all sport-protocol and entertainment elements in the competition venues. The exact date and location of deployment varies for each sport.
 
We are hiring for the following locations and sports:
  • Berlin: diving, swimming, volleyball
  • Essen: archery, artistic gymnastics, basketball, fencing, judo,  
    rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis,
  • Duisburg: beach volleyball, rowing, water polo
  • Hagen: basketball
  • Bochum: 3x3 basketball, 3x3 wheelchair basketball, athletics
  • Mülheim: badminton

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Perform as a bilingual announcer in German and English during all phases of the sport competition and sport presentation operations 
  • Take direction and cues from the Venue Producer 
  • Follow rundowns and the RR25 script for delivery of all necessary elements 
  • Research athlete bios, current events, etc. 
  • Provide sport-specific commentary, general announcements, and/or translation as needed

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Professional, high-energy and engaging voice and speech 
  • Experience working as an announcer, moderator, or host, ideally for sport competition or sport events 
  • Excellent and articulate English and German preferred, monolingual announcers may also be considered in specific cases 
  • Knowledge and experience of RR2025 sports 
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic environment and understand the challenges of live production  
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
