Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Cluster Manager Medal Ceremonies (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 23.06. to 29.07.2025
 
The position is located within the Event Presentation department. As Medal Ceremonies Cluster Manager (m/f/d), you are responsible for planning  and overseeing Medal Ceremony operations across a cluster of venues and sports and acting as the main liaison between the individual Medal Ceremony Managers and the Organising Committee’s Event Presentation core team. The location of deployment varies for each cluster.  

We are hiring for the following clusters:
  • Bochum, Duisburg & Müllheim: 3x3 Basketball, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball, Athletics, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Rowing, Water Polo
  •  Essen: Archery, Artistic Gymnastics, Basketball, Fencing, Judo, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis
  •  Berlin: Diving, Swimming, Volleyball

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Act as the primary contact person for Medal Ceremonies during planning and Games Time at the cluster level, together with the Sport Presentation Cluster Manager
  • Oversee the delivery and distribution of medals and podiums to the allocated venues
  • Confirm podium and flag positions
  • Finalize Medal Ceremony choreography and flow
  • Schedule and prepare for Medal Ceremony rehearsals at each venue
  • Manage and coordinate the Medal Ceremony Managers and be able to jump into that role and substitute when required
  • Create the Medal Ceremony Manager Workshop and all necessary documents and training for a smooth onboarding experience
  • Oversee volunteer management for Medal Ceremony Operations and support Medal Ceremony Managers to resolve any issues at the venue and cluster level
  • Work closely with various Functional Area managers to ensure the Medal Ceremony operations can run according to concept, protocol, and schedule

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Experience working as a Cluster Manager, Medal Ceremony Manager, or Event Manager with a specific focus on sport events and ceremonies
  • Strong leadership and the ability to manage and work well with a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a dynamic environment
  • Good understanding of the challenges of live production
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Experience working with intercoms and radios
  • Working proficiency of English required, ideally German as well
  • Experience and knowledge of RR2025 sports is a bonus
