In 2025, the world will come to the Rhine and Ruhr region to celebrate sport, science and culture. Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Initiative application Internship (m/f/d)
 
In the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
Full-time / 40 hours per week / (compulsory) internship from 3 to 6 months
 
As an intern (m/f/d), you will have the chance to support the preparation and execution of the FISU World University Games. Within one of our Functional Areas (FA), you will assist in planning and preparing meetings, presentations, and schedules, gaining insight into the opportunities and challenges of a multisport event. During your internship, you will also have the opportunity to contribute your own ideas and manage and implement your own (sub-)projects.

You can support in the following areas:

International Services & FISU Relations:
This area maintains close contact with delegations, honored guests, and officials, providing them with essential information about the event to ensure the Games become an unforgettable experience.
 
Finance & Administration:
This area encompasses all classic management functions, ensuring smooth operations in procurement, human resources, and financial management of the organization.
 
Strategic Alignment & Involvement:
The team focuses on educational values related to the event and works intensively to create sustainable experiences for our diverse target groups. The Education Team includes three areas: Youth & Schools, FISU World Conference, and Universities. Additionally, this team ensures the event is prepared sustainably and inclusively so everyone can participate.
 
Events:
In the Events area, the supporting program, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and the Flame Relay are planned. The department handles the planning, support, and implementation of individual subprojects and manages correspondence with partners, clubs, universities, and associations.
 
Marketing:
The team not only markets our event through social media but also handles partner management, ticketing, merchandise, and the design and signage of event locations.
 
Media:
This area handles our external communications, from press releases to media relations to live broadcasts of individual competitions.
 
Technology:
The FA ensures the smooth running of the Games. They handle the accreditation of all staff, guests and athletes participating in the event. Additionally, this area provides and installs the technical equipment for the OC.
 
Operations:
The FA is mainly responsible for the operational implementation of the general setup through the areas of Accommodation, Food & Beverage, Logistics, Safety & Security, Transport, and Volunteers & Uniforms.
 
Sports:
The Sports department is responsible for the preparation, organization, and execution of the 18 sports. This includes, among other things, procuring the necessary sports equipment, creating competition schedules, coordinating with sports federations, and planning and preparing medical care for the athletes as well as doping control measures.
 
Venue Management:
This area is responsible for the conception of the event sites and liaises with the relevant organizers and authorities. They plan the exact use and allocation of the event venues and document this in the designated plans.

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Enrolled as a student in the fields of sports, tourism, events, international relations, or a comparable field
  • Enthusiasm for sports and events
  • Great communicator who enjoys team work
  • Thriving in organizing and planning
  • Structured way of working, quick comprehension
  • Creativity and proactiveness
  • Knowledge of Office 365
