Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Manager:in Catering / Food & Beverage (m/w/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract from 15.06 to 31.07.2025
 
The position is located in the Operations department. As Manager:in Catering (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the planning, implementation and management of a comprehensive catering concept in our sports facilities and locations before and during the event. We are looking for the locations Essen, Bochum, Berlin and Duisburg.

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Working closely with other relevant departments to ensure smooth operations, including infrastructure and security measures
  • Establishing criteria for purchasing and selecting suppliers and monitoring recipes and materials
  • Defining the catering level in different areas based on event requirements and target groups
  • Participation in tenders for catering concepts and contract management with external service providers
  • Managing external catering services, including purchasing of goods, budget compliance and quality control
  • Participating in the planning of special events and adapting the offer to the market
  • Managing and training employees, including instructing new employees and monitoring compliance with hygiene regulations
  • Creating efficient duty rosters for external service providers and volunteers
  • Planning and implementation of cleaning services and waste disposal during events
  • Central control of all catering, cleaning and waste disposal processes during the games
  • Organising event processes according to the needs of the client groups
  • Supporting the teams at the venues during Games Time (incl. set-up & dismantling phase)

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Completed university degree in event or catering management or comparable completed vocational training in the hotel or catering industry
  • Proven professional experience in catering or event management, ideally in the sports or event industry
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of purchasing and supplier management as well as budgeting and costing
  • Experience in managing and training employees as well as adhering to quality standards and hygiene regulations
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, even with an increased workload
 
Professional indemnity insurance with cover of at least € 2 million is required for the duration of the assignment.
