Up to 8,500 athletes and officials from around 150 nations will compete in six cities for 12 days - in 18 different sports. Standards are set here - where the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany, in one exceptionally sport-loving region.

Venue Manager (m/f/d)
 
In freelance work (fee-for-service contract) for the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games
temporary contract June/July 2025
 
The position is part of Venue Management. We are hiring for the following locations:
  • Berlin
  • Essen
  • Duisburg
  • Hagen
  • Bochum
  • Mülheim

Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:

  • Venue management - organisation and implementation of the event for a venue; in cooperation and coordination with the Lead Venues team
  • Interface management between the operator/landlord, the technical manager, the event technology manager, the event manager and the individual specialist departments of the OC and the MOC 
  • Implementation and monitoring of compliance with official requirements, safety-related regulations and ordinances during implementation
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the venue / adherence to schedules and guidance of the individual departments
  • Central point of contact for and coordination of service providers, partners, colleagues, volunteers and trades involved
  • Collaboration with all functional areas of the OC (e.g. sports, technology, overlay, logistics, security, catering, etc.)
  • Leading a team of volunteers, employees and freelancers
  • Taking over daily briefings & writing reports

Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Project experience and relevant professional experience in the planning and successful realisation of an event of a similar scale
  • Proven experience in the planning and management of a venue 
  • Technical (basic) understanding
  • Commercial and customer-orientated approach
  • Sensitivity to the needs of participants and visitors
  • Experience in security management and dealing with public institutions desirable
  • Ability to work in a team, sense of responsibility and strong communication skills
  • Experience in the integration of volunteer structures
  • Time flexibility, also able to work evenings and weekends
  • Very good written and spoken German skills 
  • Willingness to participate in meetings & workshops in the run-up to the event 
  • Willingness to familiarise yourself with our existing documents (VOP, P&P, etc.) and comply with them on site
 
Professional liability insurance covering the duration of the assignment is required. Personal protective equipment (helmet, safety gloves, high-visibility waistcoat) is not provided.
